"My story of how the partnership with TFC came about began at the California Closets 2001 Corporate Convention. About a year prior to the convention, one of my partners at the time was trying to retire, but we couldn’t seem to ever come to consensus on how to have him exit. Then at this 2001 Convention, Steve Rogers was speaking at one of the sessions and explaining this “branchising” concept. I believe I had heard a little bit about it in the past but still didn’t have a good understanding of it. When we broke for a break at the conclusion of Steve’s remarks, I went up to him and asked him to explain a little more to me about this “branchising” business. Of course, Steve wasn’t going to miss any potential opportunity, and looked at me and answered my question with a question by saying, “What do you want to know about it, Jeff?” I believe it was within sixty seconds we were sitting on a porch just outside the conference room talking business. A couple of months later he visited our facility and in July of 2001, our partnership or marriage came to be. As far as philosophy of partnerships, I’ve always been a believer in them. I’ve played team sports my whole life and have enjoyed getting key players together and working on creating a winning team. With that said, though, partnerships are not a whole lot different than getting married. All involved need to be certain that their goals and values are in alignment. And that is why our partnership with TFC has been so successful."
